As a private non-profit educational facility, Chilkat Valley Preschool relies on several types of funding to cover the costs of doing business. In past years we have received annual income from three main sources: tuition, annual grants from the Haines Borough, and volunteer-run fundraisers (using the 2001-2002 school year as an example, we met our $47,000 budget with tuition (55%), a Borough grant (28%), and fundraisers (17%)). Some of our fundraising events have included a raffle, taco feed, food booth, and grandparent project.
The CVP community is made up of students, their parents and other family members, staff, volunteers, and interested community members. The preschool depends on this community's active participation to thrive. As a parent of a child enrolled at CVP, we expect you to participate in the following ways: 1) Bring snack at least one day each month 2) Participate in the annual Spring Workday 3) Help with fundraisers.
In addition, please consider joining the Board of Directors (described above). Your cooperation and assistance with these matters helps keep tuition costs both stable and as reasonable as possible .
CVP warmly welcomes parent helpers, and encourages you to come in and enjoy your child in his/her educational surroundings. You may attend for a full or partial day, whatever your schedule and desire allow. If you have a special interest or hobby you'd like to share, please plan ahead with the teachers so that the best timing can be arranged. Volunteering in class can be a very important part of your child's education. We look forward to your participation.
