Preschool Program

At Chilkat Valley Preschool, we believe in the power of play-oriented, multi-sensory learning. Our philosophy nurtures your child's holistic development, fostering a love for learning from the start.

Art & Handwork

Tuesday: Salt dough or beeswax modeling for strengthening the will and encouraging imagination

Wednesday: Drawing with vibrant beeswax block crayons that awaken creativity and color awareness

Thursday: Watercolor painting using wet-on-wet techniques to explore form and feeling

Purposeful Work & Nourishing Food

Children engage in meaningful, real-life activities that build independence and care for others: folding laundry, chopping vegetables, setting the table, and washing dishes. Snack is simple, hearty, and homemade. A weekly menu includes oatmeal, veggie soup, rice with seasonal produce, and fruit with cheese.

Why It Matters

Children at CVP are not only lovingly cared for—they are prepared for the world ahead in the most meaningful way. Research confirms what we see every day: play, nature, and connection are essential for healthy development. Our program builds the social, emotional, and cognitive foundation children need to thrive when formal academics begin, while maintaining a small (7:1) student-to-teacher ratio.

Children leave our program with:

  • Capable hands and curious minds

  • A love of learning

  • A strong sense of belonging in both community and the natural world

Let’s raise wholehearted children, together. Enrollment is now open for the 2025–2026 school year. Let’s find a rhythm that fits your family.
